The Knights of Columbus will be asking for donations on the weekend of September 26th & 27th to help provide warm coats for children and adults in need. Please consider donating to help keep a child warm this winter!
For many years the Knights of Columbus have donated new winter coats to needy children and adults. Over the years the total coats given away have surpassed over ONE MILLION coats nationwide!
Last year through your generous donations the John F. Kennedy Council, which many men of the parish belong, donated over 240 coats. The coats were given to children of the Warren Consolidated School District, along with the Fraser and Chippewa Valley districts. The administrators from these schools know the needs and distribute the coats to the most needy.
This year our council sees bigger needs and would like to do more.
The price of coats, like everything else has increased about $40 per case. We have already placed our orders so we can receive matching coats from the Supreme Order of the Knights of Columbus, buy one and get one free! With Fr. Joe’s approval, the Knights will be asking everyone attending Mass the weekend of September 26th & 27th to donate just ONE dollar per person. This will help us purchase additional coats for those kids in need.
It is a good opportunity to show your children how charity works by taking a dollar from their piggy bank and giving it to help kids stay warm this winter! With nearly 1,000 people attending Masses that weekend, the dollar per person will go a long way.
Members of the Knights of Columbus will be in front of church the weekend of September 26th & 27th to receive your donations.
